WETSUITS???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Hey, well i was thinking of getting one of those full wetsuits to swim in, but I have a few questions??? errmmm..... Can u wear nothing underneath them? Can you wear your regular underwear underneath them....or do you wear a swimming suit? Know any good placed to buy them?

  1. I wear swimming trunks under it. You could wear nothing, but it's common to dunk it or clean it as soon as you get out of the salt water. That might be amusing for some of the other swimmers.
  2. i strongly suggest you wear a swimsuit underneath, because when your out of the water the wetsuit might get too hot and you dont want to take it off when theres nothing underneath, and as for buying them go to any dive shop (scuba diving shop) they should have a wide selection of them
  3. I prefer to wear nothing under my wetsuit. You do need to think about how you will be getting in and out of the wesuit though. Most of the places that I scuba dive locally have changing rooms; therefore, I can change in there. On vacation, I am usually putting the wesuit on while on the boat, and there is no privacy on most dive boats. I have tried taking a large towel to wrap around me while changing, but it works ok on land and not too well on the rocking boat. When I need to wear something under the wetsuit, I wear jammers (think bicycle shorts without the padding). I am also a realist in that I know others may not want to see me walking around in "long" speedos; therefore, I take board shorts to wear over them until it is time to get in the westuit. The last consideration for wearing something under a wetsuit is how hard or easy it is to put on the wetsuit. My thicker wetsuits are tough to put on; however, when wearing a long sleeve rash guard and full length underarmor pants, the suit slides right on.
  4. A suit of some sort is normal under a wetsuit. But it doesn't have to be a "swimsuit" Scuba divers often wear something called a dive skin. this is a very thin suit or shorts or top that acts as clothing and makes it easier to get a wetsuit on and off. (wetsuits are easier to get on if you are dry and they are dry / or you are wet and they are. But if one is a little dry or a little damp they can be a pain) In any event some dives skins are like a cyclist suit / like a spandex material. but honestly they are overly expensive for what they are, the simplest thing is a pair of bikeshorts or spandex and an under amour type top. These dry very quick and make it easier to get the suit on and off and you're not going to be naked. (and the ones from walmart work just as good as anything else.) As for places to buy them, if you want just a thin (3 mm or less) sports wetsuit to swim in / then your local Dick's or Sports Authority may do the trick. And they are usually cheaper. Unless you can find a good sale. However these are good if the water is 75 or warmer. If you need something more a dive shop is the place to go. (and go to a few and hear what they have to say before making a purchase) there's a lot of factors that make up a wetsuit, size, cut, material, how thick... And a dive shop is better equipped to answer those questions.
  5. Hi, I would suggest wearing swim shorts/swim suit underneath - it will help keep you a bit warmer (and will stop any chaffing!). You could also try wearing a 'skin' or rash vest. Fourth Element do shorts and tops that you can wear under a wetsuit that will keep you warm. Any dive centre will stock wetsuits/rash vests/thermal gear, its best not to buy a wetsuit on line unless you are absolutely sure about your size as they all vary slightly. Hope this helps!
