Is surf clothing popular in the Auckland, New Zealand area like it is in places like Hawaii and Cali?
I'm thinking of moving to Auckland and wanted to know if surf clothing (billabong, hurley, quicksilver, etc.) is worn a lot. I live in Florida now and from California originally so thats what I've grown up with.

- Yes. Although you will also find some regional brands that have a higher profile in New Zealand and Australia. Some brands from Australia and New Zealand may have a slightly higher profile down here than they might in California or Florida (brands like Rapu), but the usual suspects are alive and kicking down here. Brands like Quiksilver Billabong Roxy Rip Curl Volcom O'Neill Lost Von Zipper Rusty Hurley Electric
- New Zealanders, in general, wear whatever they feel comfortable in. Brand names don't really matter.
- Yes definitely! You wouldn't believe how obsessive many tweens are with Roxy and Billabong etc etc, and many of the guys wear Volcom and Billabong all the time. Trust me, it's big! Amazon, Mississippi and Chances are the main stores which sell only surf brands, and there are other lesser known smaller stores in each city/suburb that also sell surf brands.
- Yes i live there and wear exactly what you mentioned!
- Yea in Summer it is. (and winter) Brands like: Billabong Quicksilver Roxy Rip Curl etc. .. are avaliable here
- Not really. Not in Auckland. Some beaches in Auckland are okay but not really that great. I know like in Raglan and Te Arai beach places like that, surf clothing is more common because the places close to those beachs are more rural and everyone kind of wears that type of clothing, it's not as popular in auckland than it is in those areas. No offence but Aucklands crap.
