can I use broken polystyrene surf boards as insulation?

we have several broken polystyrene surf boards would it be safe to use these above the damp proof membrane and below floor boards ie between the joists, perhaps also infilling with polystyrene packing 'squiggles' in an outbuilding... or would this be a fire risk?

1. NO!!! this is ilegal, I am reporting you right now to the authorities. You mustent ever speak or do such a thing
2. it is not a fire risk, but in case of fire you would have much less chance of survival, these materials put off very toxic fumes when burnt or melted.
3. Sure, use anything you want, surfboards, packing peanuts, neighborhood kids, enjoy!
4. Dude, just shred them up so they will fill into the corners and go for it. LOL Isnt this what happened to all the hippys? They lit up, lit their cheap beadboard insulation up and never even made it to the door.
